Kusagakure gaiden or 'Hidden Grass Side story' is a fanfiction based on the Naruto manga and anime. It's purpose is to expand the naruto universe with new characters, stories and artwork. It focuses around the hidden grass village, one of the less seen villages, to give some freedom in character and story development.
The story takes place before the original naruto story and after the kakashi gaiden. The Third Great Shinobi Wars have ended, but most villages still suffered from heavy losses. Clients are still requiring the service of shinobi villages, pushing them and their shinobi to the limit. Kusagakure, a minor village, suffered considerable losses because of it's geographical position between two major villages (Rock Village and Leaf Village). Not being able to fulfill the requests of clients gave the opportunity for mercenary groups to take the jobs. As the mercenary groups start to increase in numbers they also are gaining a lot of power. It's just a matter of time before they have enough power to overthrow a minor village...
Kusagakure gaiden will feature about 17 new characters from different villages (grass, rock, leaf and cloud) and will focus around 'team 2' from kusagakure.
